Institutional and Governance Challenges in Social Protection: Designing Implementation Models for the Right to Work Programme in India

The study attempts to provide a policy and reform agenda to the government and other actors for enhancing the effectiveness of implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). It will bring out lessons from implementation of NREG in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar, through process diagnostics. Objectives of the study include identifying typologies of implementation models available and factors that have contributed to realize outcomes of the programme. It would also help policy makers to identify bottlenecks and mechanisms to address the same.
