Livelihood Diversification, Poverty and Policy Reform

The study analyses the changes that have taken place in rural areas following the introduction of stabilisation and structural adjustment programmes in 1991. Analysis is based on data pertaining to an intensive survey previously carried out in 1992 (sponsored by ILO and carried out by ISID) of eight villages spread over Andhra Pradesh and Haryana, and a resurvey in 2002 (sponsored by ODI and carried out by IHD) of the same villages conducted for the study. It also examined the rural-rural and rural-urban linkages.
