  Marginalised Social Groups: Minorities

Baseline Survey of Minority Concentrated Districts

Sponsored by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Indian Council of Social Science Research, the Institute conducted baseline surveys of 26 minority-concentrated districts across 9 states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Mizoram. A report on the socio-economic conditions of the population and households (900 households selected from the minority and majority community alike) in each district has been prepared indicating status and deprivations of the population in terms of four socio-economic, four basic amenities and two health-related indicators, apart from giving other details. The reports are geared towards the preparation of a multi-sectoral development plan of each district. State level workshops were also conducted to validate the findings and help the state in the preparation of the multisector development plan.
