Dr. Preet Rustagi
Preet Rustagi is a Professor and Joint Director at the Institute Her research interests include work, employment and institutions; gender development indicators; crimes against women; women’s equality and empowerment; urban poverty; children’s education and work; child well being and deprivations; and food security. She has been pursuing intensive district level analysis for the country to examine gender inequalities and discrimination against women and has also worked on the South Asian region. She is an associate editor of the Indian Journal of Human Development, a bi-annual publication of the IHD and also an associate editor of the Indian Journal of Labour Economics, a quarterly publication of the Indian Society of Labour Economics
Dr. Shreya Sarawgi
Shreya Sarawgi is a Fellow at the Institute. She completed her doctoral thesis on Caste, Social Cleavages, Place and Leaders in Indian elections (1967-2004) in 2012. Her research interests are in electoral politics, political participation, economic voting, urbanization and urban violence, governance, institutions, policy evaluation and quantitative methods. She is an Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Human Development. She recently co-authored a chapter in the Second Delhi Human Development Report.
Dr. Rakesh Tiwary
Rakesh Tiwary is a Fellow at IHD. He received his Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He has more than ten years of experience in research and training on diverse themes of regional development, planning and governance. Working with government agencies he carried out monitoring of policy reforms in multiple sectors and implemented capacity building programs for senior government officials on development programs. He has provided consultancy support to reputed international and national agencies, including the Government of Bihar in preparations of 12th Five Year Plan document (2012-17), strategy papers and the Human Development Report.
Bhim Reddy is a Senior Research Associate at IHD, and an Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Human Development. His Ph.D from the Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad, focused on rural-urban labour migration and agrarian change. His research interests are in agrarian political economy, manifestations of caste in contemporary India, everyday lives and politics of migrant/informal labour in urban centres, emerging recruitment practices in urban labour markets, struggles for urban citizenship, and urban violence.
Ms. Nikita Sharma
Nikita Sharma is a Research Associate at IHD. Her research interests urban studies, planning, urbanization, politics of planning and urban design. She is an Architect by training with masters in Urban Design. Her design proposal 'Whampoa- walkabout neighbourhood' won best planning project 2013 (Student category) by Singapore Institute of Planners. She was a participant of the International Forum on Urbanism (IFoU) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
