Bhim Reddy is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Human Development, New Delhi. He is a social anthropologist who is specialised in mixed-methods development research. He received his M.A, M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Hyderabad. His doctoral research was focussed on rural-urban labour migration, agrarian political economy and social change. His current interests are in the areas of rural transformation, farm technologies and work, urbanisation and socio-spatial inequalities; youth, migration and employment; gender inequality, intersections and violence; drinking cultures and alcohol policy.
Dr.Reddy has been engaged in various research projects at the Institute, including studies on migration and development of Scheduled Tribes, small farmers and farm technologies, the impact of alcohol prohibition; job search and hiring practices in the formal sector, contemporary manifestations of caste, neighbouring in cities, urban inequality and violence.
Dr. Reddy has been an Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Human Development since 2015.
