Climate Change and Environment Sustainability
The steady increase in extreme weather events such as record temperatures, persistent heatwaves, and widespread droughts is having profound impacts on production, income, and livelihoods, particularly in regions heavily dependent on agriculture and environmental resources. The Institute is intensifying its research on the effects of climate change on livelihoods and employment, with a focus on developing policies that promote climate resilience and environmental sustainability. There is a critical need to prioritize actions to mitigate the impacts of climate change, especially in the developing world, where climate shocks disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. This research area will contribute to the growing body of knowledge on climate impacts, aiming to inform policies that enhance adaptive capacity and promote sustainable development pathways.
