Ph.D in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi

Deeksha Tayal is a Fellow at the Institute of Human Development (IHD), Delhi. Her research focuses on women’s issues, particularly, labour force participation, unpaid and paid work, discrimination and gender inequality, violence and safety of women, transport and urban infrastructure, son preference, adolescent and child health, etc. She has a Ph.D. in economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. Her Ph.D. thesis focussed on labour market dynamics of women in urban labour market of India. She has a total work experience of more than 15 years, spanning research in both industry and academic arena. She is well versed in undertaking both quantitative and qualitative studies. She is skilled at handling large secondary datasets as well as primary data collection techniques. Her research has been published in several peer-reviewed high impact international journals like Journal of Family Issues, Asian Development Reviews, South Asia Research, etc. She has been engaged in projects funded by leading organizations like International Labour Organization (ILO), International Growth Centre (IGC), the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), UNICEF, UNESCAP, PRADAN, etc.
