Dr Shipra Nigam has a Phd And Mphil in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University ,  an M.A in economics from Hyderabad Central University and she did her  B.Com (h) from LadySriRam College, University of Delhi. Her primary research interests are in the fields of macroeconomics of growth, employment and structural change, sustainable development, the political economy of development and the Economics of Gender. She has worked on the India Employment Reports published by the institute and also has various publications around related issues. In the past , she has been involved in research, teaching and policy advocacy initiatives as part of her work for think tanks, research institutes and universities, including UN  India ;Research and Information Systems for Developing Economies (RIS) New Delhi; IWRAW-Asia Pacific, Malaysia; Institute of New Economic Thinking (INET), New York; International Development Economists Associates( IDEAs ); LadySriRam College  and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi. She was also a Fulbright Doctoral and Professional Research fellow at New School for Social Research, New School University, New York.
