The profile of Indu B Sinha alias Indu Bharti is profile of a person, who has been engaged with two professions – Research and Media – simultaneously; and carried a pen-name – Indu Bharti – for regular writing and reporting, while began working with the Print Media in 1986. The name continues till date for Journalistic medium of writing. This person has been self-driven by a strong desire to pursue her career-paths suited to her basic instinct and interests having built upon this. Hence, engagement with two professions, with altogether 38-year – that begins with Print Media in 1986 and with Social Science Research in 1989) – long work-experience, makes her a professional with multifarious calibre that is a composite of researcher, writer and editor.
Indu B Sinha is associated with the Institute for Human Development, as Senior Fellow (Visiting) since 2012. She is ex-Senior Fellowship Awardee of the Indian Council for Social Science Research (2015-18), New Delhi, India. She has earned her Ph D from University of Bath (UK) in Economics and International Development with a focus on structural transformation and ensuing changes in gender relations. The study was sponsored by The Ford Foundation, New Delhi. Sinha’s research interests include issues pertaining to rural development and change, structural transformation, gender relations, market, social-political mobilisation, radical movement and problems of the tribal universe. During her initial phase (1989-1993) of Research career, she has worked in various capacities at the Anugrah Narain Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna (India). She has over 20 academic presentations and published over 50 papers and articles of academic value in Economic & Political Weekly, The Statesman and other Journals and Newspapers. Her present full-fledged engagements are research and self-publication of research works focused on multifarious changes the state of Bihar has undergone over last two decade time.
