Amrita’s research interests are in the areas of migration, gender and village studies. At IHD she is the Coordinator of the Institute’s research programme on ‘Inclusive Development in Bihar’, and is presently working on a longitudinal study that examines social and economic changes in rural Bihar in the period, 1981-2011. Amrita has published in the Economic and Political Weekly and the Indian Journal of Labour Economics. She is a co-author of the book, The Challenge of Inclusive Development in Rural Bihar (Institute for Human Development and Manak Publications, 2013) and a co-author of the chapter on public safety in the Delhi Human Development Report 2013 (Institute for Human Development and Academic Foundation, 2013).
