Dr. Ashwani Kumar is a research professional with an academic background and extensive expertise in socio-economic and human development research. With a remarkable 17-year tenure as Associate Fellow at the Institute for Human Development (IHD), Eastern Regional Centre, Ranchi. He has significantly contributed to both research and administrative aspects.

- D. in Economics from VBU, Hazaribag, Jharkhand
- A. in Rural Studies (Rural Management and Development) from Patna University, Patna
- PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application) from the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, Patna
- Sc. Honours in Mathematics from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya

Dr. Kumar’s career at IHD is marked by unwavering dedication to addressing socio-economic and human development challenges, particularly in tribal areas, across Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Research Leadership:
- Conducted over 50 research and action research projects, funded by national and international organizations.
- Expertise covers diverse topics, including labour migration, rural development, poverty alleviation, livelihood, education, health, and nutrition.

- Proficient in managing media, financial transactions, and budgeting at IHD’s Eastern Regional Centre.
