Professor, Delhi School of Economics
Pulin B Nayak taught at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. He did his B.A. (Honours in Economics) during 1966-69 from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, followed by his Master’s in Economics from the DSE during 1969-71. He earned his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, in 1975. He joined the faculty of DSE in 1978, where he taught till his retirement in 2015. During 1982-84 he was a Fellow of St Antony’s College, Oxford. His areas of specialization are Public Economics and Economic Development.
During 2000-03, Pulin B Nayak was the Head of the Department of Economics, Delhi University. He also served as the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Delhi, in 2000. During 2005-08 he served as the Director of the Delhi School of Economics. He was a Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council during 2013-14. He has published extensively in the areas of Public Finance and Economic Development. He edited a four volume set of readings entitled ‘Economic Development of India’ which was published by Routledge, London, in 2015.
