Jharkhand Economic Survey 2014-15 and Fiscal Policy Strategy Statement and Medium Term Fiscal Plan (FPSSMTFP) 2015

Aims & Objectives: It studied the developments in the state economy in the previous year, summarized the performance on major development programs and highlighted the policy initiatives of the government and the prospects of the economy in the short to medium term.
Methodology: This survey was prepared by the IHD Eastern Regional Centre with support from researchers from IHD Delhi Office on behalf of the Department of Finance, Jharkhand. It was based on the data and information collected from the various departments of the Government of Jharkhand as well as other samples.
Findings:
- An overview of the Jharkhand economy and its various sectors;
- The role of public expenditure and outlays;
- The scenarios on institutional finance, agriculture, industry & mining, infrastructure & communication, rural and urban development, forest, tribal welfare, human development issues like poverty, education, health, water and sanitation and gender issues and
- Analysis of tourism, assessment of government interventions, state of art and culture.
Recommendations:
With rapidly growing economies and major development, this survey elucidated the adverse effects on the climate of Jharkhand and its ability to cope with disasters. It was placed before the Legislative Assembly in the budget session of the state where these two documents were used in the preparation of the budget. The Economic Survey 2013-2014 of Jharkhand was also prepared by the IHD Eastern Regional Centre.
