Aims and Objectives:
The aim of the study is to explore and analyze the contributing factors to adolescents’ poor health by comparing India and the United States. The study aims to:
- Assess the current health status of adolescents in both countries to inform future remedial processes for improved health and holistic growth.
- Enhance physical and mental well-being through integration strategies.
- Implement tailored physical fitness programs for adolescents.
- Cultivate positive attitudes and habits for sustained well-being.
- Recognize cultural developments and changes specific to time and environment.
Methodology:
The research focuses on modern and traditional cultural impacts on adolescent attitudes and values. Conducted in Delhi and Kolkata, India, and Los Angeles, USA, it used a questionnaire to assess food habits, physical health, school attendance, and academic performance among 100 urban students in each location. The study also evaluates how Indian values and traditional socialization are being affected by Western culture.
Findings:
- Parents’ education and socioeconomic status are strongly correlated, impacting family income.
- Higher family income is linked to mothers’ education.
- Positive self-attitude among adolescents correlates with good health and happiness.
- Educational background influences students’ choice of academic streams.
Recommendations:
- Develop integration strategies to enhance adolescent physical and mental well-being.
- Implement physical fitness programs tailored to adolescents’ needs.
- Encourage the preservation of traditional values while accommodating cultural shifts.
- Ensure policies that support the improvement of socioeconomic conditions to positively influence adolescent well-being.
